The use of digital video and media to enhance literacy learning

I can not believe it is all finished! These five weeks sure did fly by. I can't even believe how much material we covered this summer, I do not feel as overwhelmed as I thought I would be. I think that it helped a lot that I took Curriculum Planning last semester. I remember how overwhelmed last semester, so I am very thankful that I had experience with Moodle and some of these websites.
The presentations tonight were awesome! As you can see above, my WoW (Wonder of the Web) project was on the use of Digital Video and Media to enhance literacy learning. It was a pretty open project so I decided to focus on how to make a video in an elementary school. Instead of reading books then writing up a book report students now can make a video project of what they learned in the book. They can just review or act out the book. I put up steps for how to make videos...I don't have personal experience but I have watched videos and visited websites, it is something that I look forward to doing in my classroom! Everyones topics were sites that everyone can use in their future classrooms. Everyones PowerPoint was very engaging and everyone did a great job presenting! Of course I had trouble with my microphone..but I kinda expected that. Just glad I was able to speak through Dr. Smirnova's phone :)
I will take so much out of this course. There are so many great new sites that I have learned about. I am now aware of grade books online, web 2.0, and information about Internet Safety. I learned that it is so important to use technology in literacy. There are so many sources out there that are free and fun and will keep your students entertained. I am very excited to put these into use :)
